Just sitting here listening to John Lennon, feeling a little melancholy. When I think about being a stay at home mom.
I can’t help but wonder what happened to champagne Tuesday’s? This was nothing like the book Tuesday’s at what ever his names house was (think it was Maury’s). I am thinking back to being at home with a 3 year old and having two other kids in grade 1 and 2, and thinking my life was kind of sucking at this point in time.
My husband and I went on a business trip to France the week before (this was not a normal thing for me by any stretch of the imagination) and I had bought a bottle of champagne at duty free on the flight home. I was wishing I was back in cheese and wine country not listening to the theme songs off of the children’s channel. I called my girlfriend and told her to get her butt over to my place. I had just invented Champagne Tuesday’s.
We sat and polished off a very good bottle of Champers and had a great afternoon. (We walked to the school to get our older kids-very responsible) I miss those days now, all of my kids are in school and I’m working now, but every once in a while I think I should resurrect the great idea of Champagne Tuesday’s.
I know today is Friday; wonder if Champagne Friday’s has a good a ring to it.

Vodka Soda
- 2oz vodka
- Soda
- Ice
- Lemon or lime wedge to garnish
In a tall glass put vodka and ice, top with soda and stir. Add lemon or lime to garnish.

Just taking time to do your nails should be a nice pampering experience. If you find yourself either alone or with a bunch of girlfriends and need something to do here are some suggestions. These are some of my go tos that keep me cheerful. Keep in mind these are things that my girlfriends and I have all done for a fun evening or for a raining day, they are a guide and you can tailor them to your tastes!
Get your favourite music and sing your heart out, dance but be careful not to dent or smudge your nails!
A few good magazines and a glass of wine, cup of tea or a latte.
Movie Suggestion: Fargo
Television Show: Absolutely Fabulous Door Handle
Eddy's kitchen is being rebuilt after Patsy burnt it down with a rogue cigarette. Eddy is determined to make sure her new decor is perfectly co-ordinated.
Eddy treats her seach for the perfect matching door handle as if she were hunting the Holy Grail. She flies on Concorde to New York taking Patsy with her on her quest.
While galavanting round the Big Apple they bump into some rather disreputable characters. Edina even finds time to have her navel pierced. When they get home Saffy reveals that it is her birthday - Eddy has forgotten. Will she be able to rustle up a present?
