One Nite Stand

The ill-fated martini story led me to another story. During the martini party-where I had drank a dozen very strong drinks, I cooked up a very stupid plan with my neighbor and my husband. The three of us were definitely not thinking straight when we had the idea to sneak into her house and scare her sleeping husband.

We stood around giggling about how funny it would be if I jumped on Jef in bed. Well, I got her house keys and went over to the scene of the crime. I drunkenly opened the door, quietly climbed up the stairs and flipped the light on in their bedroom. I jumped into the room with a big greeting and jumped on him in bed.

Jef, who had been sound asleep, was understandably freaked out. I had no idea what to do next. The plan, which sounded so funny at the time, didn’t go anywhere. After I scared him what was I supposed to do? I was uncomfortably lying beside Jef in his and Kelly’s bed and had no fucking clue what to do next!

Well I didn’t have to worry for long. The next second their 4 year old son came wondering into the bedroom and asked why the neighbor was in bed with his Daddy? Even in my drunken state I felt like the biggest- BIGGEST –ass ever. I got out of the bedroom apologized profusely to Jef and to their son and ran home.

I got back to my house and found my husband and my neighbor still giggling in the kitchen. They were wondering what was happening a few doors down. They saw me walk into the kitchen and asked how funny the prank had been? I said it was horrible! I said I had probably mentally scarred her son forever and I felt like a heel. I guess they clued into the fact that maybe it wasn’t so funny.

 When you are drunk you either hold onto an idea and can’t get it out of your mind or you forget it in 2 seconds. They forgot it and moved onto another topic.

I, on the other hand, could not forget it.

To this day, I still think of that ill thought out plan and cringe. Never again.We’re working on making the story copy appropriate for our audience.
