Martini Daze

Paris. France.  Ah, the city to be in love. Or at least celebrate your 40th birthday.  After enjoying haute cuisine for lunch consisting of Cuisses de Grenouilles au Riesling and Crème d' Homere with Champagne, we left the Eiffel tower and began our journey to the Ritz Hotel for afternoon drinks.

As we walked over the stunning Pont de l'Alma we stopped at the memorial for Princess Diana and reflected on the life of a woman we all watched and loved. 

We kept walking to the Place d' Vendome. Amazing to think that was Coco Channel’s view for 37 years. She kept apartment at the Ritz Hotel.

We strut into the Ritz and headed to the bar. We were sitting close to a women who spoke English. She recognized us as fellow Anglophones and began to chat with us.  She was drinking a martini so I requested the same. A DIRTY MARTINI. 

Our Server brought over a silver tray with two martini glasses and a silver martini shaker. The presentation was impeccable.    I really enjoyed my first Dirty Martini.  Yum. 

We spoke some more to our new friend, she was American.  Polite, well spoken, and oddly familiar.  Another Martini and more chat.  Finally, she was called away and said so long.  But before she left, our tipsy friend asked us our names, we politely told her.  She then said, well, on your return to Canada, be sure to tell your friends you had martinis at the Ritz with Jane Fonda.  OMFG.
